I am a Wealth Manager and the Chief Investment Officer at Financial Journey Partners. I became a financial advisor because I enjoy building deep, long-term relationships with kind people, and helping them to achieve their goals and dreams. I take care of our clients with the objective of enabling them to make smart decisions. These are the decisions that align their finances with their goals so that they can worry less and Enjoy the Journey. When I encourage my clients to “Enjoy the Journey”, it means doing the things my clients enjoy, and sometimes doing them sooner than they thought possible.
Earlier in my career, I was an engineer and manufacturing manager for a large technology company. I apply my earlier experiences in planning, analysis and technical know-how in my role as the Chief Investment Officer. I lead our Investment Team to build and implement investment strategies for our clients and run daily meetings to monitor the market using a structured approach for the active management of client portfolios. I apply my technical background to research, test and implement the best technology in the industry, with the goal of providing our clients with an exceptional experience.
I grew up in Green Bay, Wisconsin, down the street from the famous Lambeau Field, and I am a big Green Bay Packers fan. Since moving to the bay area, I have also come to love our local San Francisco 49ers. My years of going to games for both teams taught me how much fun it is to have a tailgate party before the game, and we have brought this tradition to our client events at the 49ers football games. When not working or at football games, I love to travel with Elaine and our clients to explore the world, meet new peoples and learn about new cultures.
Since 2023, Elaine Manley and I have co-authored two books with the intent of enriching people’s lives by sharing key learnings and wisdom from our decades of financial planning experience. Our goal is to make the transition from a career into retirement non-threatening and manageable. Our first book, Enjoy the Journey: Successful Retirement Strategies and Stories was very well received. We followed up with our second book, Enjoy the Journey: A Woman’s Guide to Retirement. This book addresses specific factors unique to women as they plan for and transition into retirement. It contains a variety of real-life “stories” that provide insights to women who are thinking about retiring or have already retired. We have seen that with clear eyed planning, it is very possible to transition into retirement without friction and to continue to Enjoy the Journey of our lives.
